Admission FAQs

We’re pleased that you’re considering becoming a part of the LU community. We recognize that attending university in another country can be both thrilling and intimidating, so we want to do everything we can to guide you through the application process. Please see below a list of most frequently asked questions from our previous applicants:

1. What are the entry requirements for applying to Undergraduate programs?

General requirements:

  • A grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (C) or better on the scale of 4.0 on the high school graduation transcripts or on the GED test or an equivalent test is required for admission to the undergraduate-level programs.
  • A one-page essay to explain the applicant’s interest in a Lincoln University program
  • English proficiency for international students, see number 12.

Additional requirements for BS-DI:

  • The Scholastic Level Examination (SLE) with a passing score above 21 (this requirement is waived for applicants with a bachelor’s degree)
  • Interview with the Program Director.

2. What are the entry requirements for applying to Graduate programs?

General requirements:

  • High school graduation or its equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.0 on the scale
    of 4.0.
  • A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a GPA of 2.7 or better on the scale of
    4.0. Conditional admission to the program may be granted to applicants with
    GPA. 2.0 – 2.6.
  • English proficiency for international students, see number 12.
  • A resume with summary of all work, extracurricular activities, and educational history of the applicant.
  • A one-page essay to explain the applicant’s interest in a Lincoln University program.

Additional requirements:

  • For MS:
    • a GMAT score of at least 500 or an equivalent GRE score.
    • Two letters of Recommendation.
  • For DBA:
    • a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on the scale of 4.0;
    • a GMAT score of 550 or GRE score of 1000, and three letters of recommendation.

3. What are the application for admission requirements?

General required documents:

  1. The application for admission form and one passport-size photograph.
  2. A non-refundable application fee of $95.
  3. Original high school diploma, or an equivalency certificate for a secondary education attestation accompanied with the official transcripts; or their notarized copies; or other documentation to prove high school graduation or its equivalent.
  4. Official transcripts from each postsecondary program from which applicants wish to transfer credit (for applicants who attended other postsecondary educational programs).
  5. A one-page essay to explain the applicant’s interest in a Lincoln University program.
  6. A resume with summary of all work, extracurricular activities, and educational history of the applicant (graduate degrees only):
  7. A photocopy of an identification document* and a social security card (if it exists).
  8. A photocopy of passport (International applicants only).
  9. Two letters of recommendation, and proof of GMAT/GRE (MS program only).
  10. Three letters of recommendation, and proof of GMAT/GRE (DBA program only).

8. My school/country does not calculate grades point average on a 4.0 GPA scale. What should I do?

We are familiar with the system and we will assign appropriate weight to your exam results. Please submit your predicted results as a well.

9. My GPA does not meet the requirement. Do you offer conditional admission?

Conditional admissions to the programs may be granted to MBA and MS applicants with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.6. The decision is also based on the students’ personal statement, letters of recommendation, and detailed review of his/her prior academic transcripts.

10. How and when will I find out if I have been accepted?

You can use your reference number to check your application status. Admission decisions usually take up to 10 business days.

International Applicants

11. Do I need to provide the financial support documents?

International applicants are required to submit an applicant’s declaration of finances or sponsor’s affidavit of support with a bank statement or a verification letter from an officer of the bank or other financial institution giving the present balance, which must equal or exceed the amount required for one year of study ($20,065).

12. Is proof of English proficiency required? If so, can this requirement be waived?

Proof of English proficiency is required for all International applicants from countries or schools where English is not the educational language. Applicants should provide results of a recognized test equivalent to at least the following levels of TOEFL scores:

This requirement may be waived if the applicant submit a letter of English proficiency from the most recent school/university attended.

13. Do my application documents need to be translated?

All documents must be accompanied by notarized English translation, if not issued in English originally.

14. If I am accepted, when will I receive the acceptance letter and I-20?

Your acceptance package contains an acceptance letter, an I-20 and other related documents. It will be sent by Express Courier Service within 5 days of acceptance. Number of days for the delivery of documents depends on the Courier service.

15. When can I enter the U.S. after I obtain my visa?

The earliest admission date would be mentioned on your I-20. You may enter the U.S. up to 30 days before the program start date.

16. When do I have to report myself to the school?

Within 3 days of your arrival in the U.S.

17. Can I defer my enrollment after I am accepted in the program?

If you are unable to begin study and have not arrived in the U.S. yet you may defer your admission to the next upcoming semester.

18. What is the estimated tuition fee?

Undergraduate program: $5,460 per semester
Graduate program: $4,680 per semester

19. Do you have scholarships for international students?

Continuing students with superior academic records are eligible to apply for a Board of Trustees Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded from funds provided by the University. The Board of Trustees Scholarship is credited to the student’s account covering up to two semesters’ full-time tuition. Miscellaneous fees for these semesters will be borne by the student. The application procedure involves submission of transcripts, a Board of Trustees Scholarship Application Form, which can be obtained from the Admissions Office, two letters of recommendation, and a brief essay. The awards will be given based on academic excellence and potential to become an outstanding student at Lincoln University. Students must submit a completed application form and all required documentation at least one month before the beginning of a semester. The Lincoln University Scholarship Committee will interview applicants, select winners and announce them before the semester begins.

20. Do I need to inform Lincoln University whether my F-1 visa is approved or not?
